Great Grandma Start passed away around 1:30 in the afternoon on Sunday, so I visited the cemetery to spend some time thinking about the little bit of time i got to spend with her. she was an exceptional lady, even getting around fairly well on her own right up till her stroke. 94 years. so much history, and a life full of stories. her faith has been passed on through the generations, and her influence has reached me in more ways than i probably even know. i always remember getting books as gifts and crisp 2$ bills for my birthday when i was younger and smiles and nice visits the last few years. so, here is to a great lady, one that i look forward to meeting again...

yes, jerms, it is mind blowing to me how someone's story and faithwalk can determine the path for those to follow. a serious lesson to learn ourselves. and also a blessing to be truely thankful for. there is an amazing place for our heritage.
My condolances go to you and your family. I didn't know her but obviously she has had a great influence.
During this past week I have been thinking a lot about the memories I have of Great Grandma. I have been blessed to have been able to have her in my life for such a long time. She was such a wise woman. Wise in so many ways. She knew so much about so many things.
She had a gentle spirit, a generous heart, and was so quiet and humble. She was a Christian example to those around her. She was a woman of faith--a faith she passed on to her children, her grandchildren, and her great grand children. I am reminded of that every time I look at the 4 generation picture I have of her, my grandmother, my mother, and myself.
Her love and appreciation for animals and plants was evident every time you spoke with her. Grandma always had stories to share. I remember going to her cute little home that was decorated with so many knick-knacks and treasures, telling so many stories. I remember the guest book she would have us sign every time we would visit. It was filled with hundreds of names from years gone by.
I remember the $2 bills that would fall from the birthday cards and letters she would write. Her handwriting was so beautiful. I still have the books that she sent for birthdays and Christmases, with little notes written inside the front cover. She loved books and she passed that love of literature on to others.
She was a Great Grandma indeed--A lady full of so much peace and contentment, whose gentle voice and smile touched everyone she met.
